Privacy Policy

1. Collection of Personal Data
We collect the following categories of personal data:
Personal data you provide to us directly
- Identity and Contact Data: We collect identifiers, including your name and email address, when you sign up for an account or authenticate via third-party providers (e.g., Google Sign-In).
- Transaction Information: We do not collect, store, or process your credit card or banking information. All payment transactions are processed by the Application Distributor (Apple App Store or Google Play Store), acting as the Merchant of Record. We receive only transaction receipts and subscription status updates.
- Inputs and Outputs: You interact with our Services via text, audio, and images (“Prompts” or "Inputs"), which generate responses (“Outputs”).
- Voice Data: If you use voice input features, we process voice recordings solely to generate text transcripts. We do not create, store, or analyze voiceprints, biometric identifiers, or biometric templates.
- Images: If you use vision features, we process images you upload to provide analysis or generation services.
- Feedback: If you communicate with us, we collect your contact information and the contents of any messages you send.
Personal data we receive automatically
- Device and Connection Information: Consistent with your device permissions, we collect information such as your device type, operating system (iOS/Android), IP address, time zone, and mobile network.
- Usage Information: We collect metadata regarding your use of the Services, such as feature usage counts (e.g., token usage, image generation counts) and date/time of access.
- Device and Diagnostic Information: When the app checks your subscription status, it sends technical details about your device and installation (platform, OS version, device model and brand, app version, language and region, timezone, screen dimensions, memory, CPU architecture, and first-install time) to our backend. We use this to support the app and understand which devices we need to support. We do not operate a third-party crash-reporting or analytics service.
- Searches Made From Your Device: When you use the search feature, your device contacts third-party search, reference, and mapping services directly, rather than through our servers. Those services therefore receive your search query and your device's IP address directly from you, and their own privacy policies apply to that contact. We do not receive a copy of these direct requests, and we do not store their results.
2. Uses of Personal Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and facilitate the Services, including transmitting Inputs to AI model providers (e.g., Google, OpenRouter, Cloudflare) to generate Outputs, and transmitting search queries to search providers (e.g., Serper) where a request requires current information;
- To create and administer your account and "Virtual Wallet";
- To facilitate and validate subscription status and Service Credit balances;
- To prevent and investigate fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service;
- To debug and identify errors that impair existing functionality;
- To enforce our legal rights and comply with legal obligations.
Model Training Disclosure: We do not use your Inputs or Outputs to train our own foundational artificial intelligence models. However, your data is processed by third-party model providers to generate responses, subject to their respective privacy practices.
3. How We Disclose Personal Data
We disclose personal data to the following categories of third parties:
- Service Providers & Business Partners: We disclose data to vendors that perform services on our behalf, including:
- AI Model Providers: Google LLC (Gemini AI), OpenRouter (model routing), and Cloudflare, Inc. (Workers AI, image generation).
- Search Providers: Serper (web search results), which receives your search query when a request requires current information.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Supabase Inc. (Database and Authentication).
- App Distribution and Updates: Expo (Application Services), which receives standard device and app information when the app checks for updates.
- Search, Reference and Mapping Services Contacted Directly By Your Device: To answer questions that need current information, the app sends your search query from your device directly to independent third-party services. These are not our vendors and do not act on our behalf; each receives your query and IP address directly from you and processes it under its own privacy policy. Which services are used depends on the kind of question asked, and the app may query several at once and use whichever answers first. They currently include:
- General web search: DuckDuckGo, Microsoft Bing, Startpage, Ecosia, Mojeek, and Mwmbl.
- News: Google News and Microsoft Bing News.
- Reference and factual data: Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wiktionary (Wikimedia Foundation).
- Maps, places, and geocoding: the OpenStreetMap Foundation (Nominatim), and public Overpass API mirrors operated by independent third parties in Germany, Austria, and the Russian Federation (VK, which operates the mirror at maps.mail.ru).
- Weather: Open-Meteo.
- Currency and cryptocurrency rates: Frankfurter and Coinbase.
- Sports scores: ESPN.
- Developer and technical reference: Stack Exchange, PyPI, the npm registry, and MDN Web Docs (Mozilla).
- Scientific literature: Europe PMC (EMBL-EBI).
We do not sell or share this data with these services for advertising, and we receive nothing back from them about you. If you do not want your device to contact these services, do not use the search feature.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose personal data to governmental authorities or third parties if required by law, or if we determine disclosure is necessary to protect the health and safety of any person, to protect against fraud, or to enforce our legal rights.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, corporate transaction, or sale of assets, your personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Sale of Data: We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may enjoy certain rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Know/Access: The right to request a copy of the personal data we process about you.
- Deletion: The right to request that we delete personal data collected from you.
- Note on Subscriptions: Deletion of your account within the App does not cancel auto-renewing subscriptions managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You must cancel these separately via your device settings.
- Correction: The right to request that we correct inaccurate personal data.
- Objection/Restriction: The right to object to or restrict our processing of your personal data.
- Withdrawal of Consent: Where processing is based on consent (e.g., microphone access), you have the right to withdraw your consent via device settings.
To exercise these rights, email us at contact@wise-apps.net. You can also open Settings → Contact Support in the app to send us a message directly.
5. Data Transfers
Our own infrastructure, and the vendors that process data on our behalf, are located primarily in the United States. By using the Services, you acknowledge that your personal data will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and adequacy decisions where applicable to ensure data protection compliance under the GDPR and other applicable laws.
Separately, when you use the search feature your device contacts independent third-party services directly, as described in Section 3. Those services are operated from a range of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and the Russian Federation. Some of these countries have not been found by the European Commission to provide an adequate level of data protection. Because your device contacts these services directly and they do not act on our behalf, that contact is not a transfer made or controlled by us, and it is governed by each service's own privacy policy. If you do not wish your device to contact these services, do not use the search feature.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.
- Chat History and Brain Items: Stored only on your device, in the app's local database. We do not upload, store, or back up your conversations or Brain items on our servers, and we cannot access them. Because they exist only on your device, uninstalling the app, clearing its data, or moving to a new device will permanently delete them, and we cannot restore them for you. On Android, your device's own backup service may retain a copy under your Google account; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
- Images You Send for Analysis: Uploaded to our storage so the AI model can process them, then removed automatically by a scheduled cleanup shortly afterwards. Images you generate are returned directly to your device and are not stored on our servers.
- Usage Records: We keep a record of each request (type, model, token count, cost). For image generation and web search, that record includes a truncated copy (the first 100 characters) of your prompt or search query. Usage records are deleted after 6 months.
- Account Records: Your account, subscription, and quota records are retained until you delete your account.
- Transient Data: Voice data is processed transiently for transcription and is not permanently stored.
7. Children
Our Services are not directed towards children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Supplemental Disclosures
Apple iOS Users: You acknowledge that while Apple Inc. may process speech data on-device for system features, specific voice data sent to our Services is processed by our third-party providers as described in this policy. Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, your authentication data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
9. Contact Information
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your rights, email us at contact@wise-apps.net. You can also open Settings → Contact Support in the app to send us a message directly.
10. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)
If you are located in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing your data are:
- Contract: To provide the Services and generate Outputs as requested by you.
- Legitimate Interests: To ensure the security of the App, prevent fraud, and improve Service performance.
- Consent: For optional features such as Voice Input.
- Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
